For South View, I developed the exterior encounter area and island location, while another designer was responsible for the building layout. Through the security tower, cover is provided for the player to approach the camp and engage inside the camp around the tent. This gives the player time and the ability to control the combat.
Each approach offers different opportunities for the player to use their chosen abilities.
An overlook offers both a ranged attack opportunity and information on who the enemy is and where they are. A cliff approach offers stealth and immediate close combat. A covered ground approach rewards a more direct assault with cover and isolated take-downs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop player approaches into the base in an open world environment.
- Design the flow of combat and how the buildings fit into the rock island.
- Set up encounter content in Unreal 5, including npc spawners and cover.
